Robyn Thurecht is an emerging artist from Canberra working primarily in mixed media, inks and charcoal. She studied for a Diploma of Visual Arts at the Canberra Institute of Technology from 2014 to 2019. As part of her studies, Robyn was awarded a Vocational Education and Training (VET) Mobility Program scholarship to Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Her artworks draw from nature and urban living to create works that are both emotive and observational. “Every mark made on the page, whether the written word or determined line, has a story behind it.” With a background in creative writing, Robyn’s art conveys what she can’t put into words. Using mixed media, she explores themes of identity, connections to places and memory. Her artworks invite the viewer to go beneath the surface of what they see and create meaning from what is hidden or hinted at. Robyn teaches art and writing to children and adults, exploring the connections between visual art and story telling.
