‘Small Things’ Creative Challenges Activities Series – 15cm x 15cm
These are optional activities related to our exhibition topic of ‘Small Things’. Choose the activities that appeal to you and complete them and share with the group on our Facebook Page. Make all works in the same format of 15cm x 15cm. Use any media you like unless otherwise specified!
ACTIVITY ONE: NATURE
Take a walk and find something small in nature that appeals to you. Use it as stimulus for an art work – this could be simple as a photograph, line drawing or watercolour painting. Use what ever media appeals to you, make more than 1 work if you are on a roll….don’t forget all works in this series should be 15cm x 15cm .
ACTIVITY TWO: FOOD MANDALA
Create a mandala from food, photograph and post to the group. You may choose to also make an artwork inspired by your food mandala-remember to keep the format 15cm x 15cm.
ACTIVITY THREE: EGGS
Happy Easter Lime Flamingos! Create an egg ‘artwork’ – interpret as you wish. Some Inspiration for decorated eggs at: https://mymodernmet.com/egg-art/.
ACTIVITY FOUR: PATTERNS
Find patterns in your neighbourhood or your house. Make an artwork inspired by one or more of the patterns.
ACTIVITY FIVE: PET PORTRAITS
Create a portrait of your pet. If you don’t have a pet create a portrait of your imaginary pet 🐶
ACTIVITY SIX: TINY WORLDS
Create an imaginary world in 2D ( 15cm x 15cm) or 3D in a dome! (Domes can be ordered online from Ikea! https://www.ikea.com/…/haerliga-glass-dome-with-base-clear…/)
ACTIVITY SEVEN: FACE MASKS
Create an artwork inspired by the medical face mask. This may be a 2D work (15cm x 15cm) or a sculptural work.
ACTIVITY EIGHT: DOMESTIC OBJECTS
Create a 2D or 3D artwork inspired by domestic objects in your home. (2D 15cmx15cm)
ACTIVITY NINE: ACTS OF KINDNESS
Make an artwork about an act of kindness. 2D 15cm x15cm or 3D

ACTIVITY 11: Collage inspired by Artist Anne Marie Jean
Inspired by our last visiting artist, Anne Maries Jean’s works on paper using collage and mark making.
Using multiple pieces of paper explore mark making with different media thematically related to your work on ‘ small things’ or inspired by Annes Marks in the landscape. Tear and or cut up your experiments and create a minimum of 4 collages.
ACTIVITY 12: Collage inspired by the work of Artist Julie Bradley
Create 4 small collage work inspired by the work of Julie Bradley. include the following elements. Coloured ground, collage, rice paper shapes, gouache lines.
